    Barcelona Middle School is very proud of its 5 STAR cafe, and students, staff and community members are encouraged to participate in our nutrition program. All school meals include a choice milk. Menus are sent home with students each month.

    The cafeteria serves breakfast in the classroom from 7:30 a.m. - 7:50 a.m.

    K and 1st grades: 10:15 a.m.-10:40 a.m.

    5th and 6th grades: 10:44 a.m.-11:04 a.m.

    2nd grades: 11:14 a.m. - 11:39 a.m.

    7th, 8th grades, & Ms. Cox 11:37 a.m.-11:57 a.m.

    3rd, 4th grades, & Ms. Master 12:05 p.m.-12:25 p.m.

    Pay for Breakfast/Lunch Online!

    Parents can now pay for school breakfast and lunch online, monitor your child’s meal account balance, and also receive low-balance email alerts through EZSchoolPay.com. The online payment option is a quick and secure way to deposit money to your child’s meal account by using a debit or credit card. A $2.60 transaction fee will be charged per credit card transaction.     Families may apply for the free or reduced breakfast and lunch program. An application is sent home with every child the first week of school or the applications may be picked up in the school office or the cafeteria. Income guidelines are on the application form. Only one application form needs to be completed per family. The completed application should be returned to the school office as soon as possible. The Federal Guidelines change each school year.

    Breakfast and lunch meals are sold each morning in the Barcelona Middle School lunchroom between 7:50 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. Students or parents can place money in the cafeteria's Accu-scan system to pay for breakfast and/or lunch. The funds are credited to the child's account. When they come for breakfast or lunch, the cost is deducted from the account by the Accu-scan machine. Parents may put any amount of money into the account for their child, with a minimum of one week's worth of funds. Students may pay cash for lunch. Students may also purchase milk for $.25. If a whole lunch is purchased, milk is included. If your child is allergic to milk or some foods, please provide a written doctor's note and soy-milk or juice will be provided. All students must go to the cafeteria at lunchtime.

    Alhambra District Child Nutrition Department

    The Child Nutrition breakfast and lunch programs receive federal reimbursement to assist families and students. We wholeheartedly support the U.S.D.A. School Meal Initiative underscoring our national health responsibilities to assist in preventing America's high rates of heart disease, diabetes, and some forms of cancer through good nutrition.

    Lunch Prices

    * REDUCED price meals are offered only to students who qualify according to federal regulations. Forms for this program are available in the cafeteria and the office.

    Reminders to Parents:

    Meal charges are not allowed.
    A student or parent can make meal deposits.
    The cafeteria clerk reminds a student when his/her meal account has only two meals remaining.
    Students are to safeguard their meal numbers, as individual numbers are issued to each student and must not be used by any other student, under Federal Regulation.
    In each case of a lost, stolen, or misused meal number, the parent/guardian will be notified. On the third occurrence, the parent or guardian will be required to meet with the cafeteria manager to assist in resolving the problem.
    During student meal service, no outside food service (e.g., McDonald's, Burger Kind, Taco Bell, etc.) is allowed in the cafeteria. Sack lunches are permitted. If the student is not buying milk, parents are encouraged to provide unsweetened fruit juice for sack lunches.
    Soda pop or other carbonated drinks are not allowed with either school meals or sack lunches.


     Behavior in the Cafeteria

    All school rules will apply when students are in the cafeteria or are traveling between classrooms and the cafeteria. Students must follow the direction of the cafeteria staff, duty teacher and teaching assistants. Students are to use quiet voices, remain in assigned seats and not move around the cafeteria without permission. Socially acceptable behavior is required. Students are to leave their eating area in a clean condition. This includes the table, bench, and floor areas. Students are not to take food or drink from the cafeteria. Students are to dispose of trash and return trays in a proper manner. Students must go directly to their assigned field and not loiter in or around the cafeteria/buildings.

Complete Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications Online

  • Parents can now complete the Free and Reduced-price Meal Applications online beginning July 1, 2018. Don’t delay, get your approval before school begins! Simply visit https://family.titank12.com/6TR85Q from any computer or mobile device, and click on “Apply Today” to get started. The online application is available in English and in Spanish. If you need assistance or do not have a computer or mobile device to complete the application online, visit your local school office for assistance. Only one online application needs to be completed per family. If you have questions, please call the Alhambra Elementary School District’s Child Nutrition Department at 602-336-2985.

Parent Reminders

    • Students are to safeguard their pin number, as individual pins are issued to each student and must not be used by any other student under Federal Regulation.
    • In each case of a stolen or misused pin number, the parent/guardian will be required to meet with the cafeteria manager to assist in resolving the problem.
    • During student meal service, no outside food service (e.g., McDonald’s, Burger King, Taco Bell, etc.; packaged snacks such as Hot Cheetos, etc.) are allowed in the cafeteria. Sack lunches are permitted. Milk can be purchased to go with sack lunches for $.25 cash. Fruit juice is encouraged for sack lunches if the student is not buying milk.
    • Soda pop or other carbonated drinks are not allowed with either school meals or sack lunches.
