Ms. Ferm (6-8th Grade)
Contact Me: School office or email kimberlyferm@alhambraesd.org
About Me: I have a Master of Elementary Education and a Master of Multicultural/Bilingual Education from Northern Arizona State University and a TESOL Certification. This is my 4th year teaching 6th-8th grade at Valencia and my 26th year of teaching in the Alhambra Elementary School District. I have enjoyed teaching 4th-8th grade students various subjects and led several after-school clubs over the years. I believe that the activities students are engaged in after school holds equal importance to the subjects taught during the school day.
Why Valencia? Good fortune has allowed me to travel to over 40 countries learning about other cultures and languages. I use what I have learned to build community and understanding in my classroom. As a child, I felt connected to the Statue of Liberty and the inscription "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free..." I believe this is true today and the day it was inscribed even though America has changed a lot. I want to be a part of finding freedom for families who courageously chose to change their lives. Valencia is an important part of the journey through support and a deep understanding of a need to educate the whole child and support the family, not just the child. Being part of a school that welcomes children to a safe place with a focus on learning English, school culture, and love is part of the dream I share with our brave families. -
