Principal's Message

  • I consider it to be a tremendous privilege for me to serve as the administrator on the campus of Valencia Newcomer School.  We will stand strong with a rich desire for academic excellence, along with a firm commitment to the arts, athletics and activities for all students.  This year brings the possibilities for a host of new and exciting adventures with the opening of our new school.  I am so pleased that you have made the choice for your family to be part of Valencia!

My roots with the Alhambra Elementary School District reach back twenty-three years ago when I graduated from college and was offered my first and only job here in Arizona.  Both my children went through the Alhambra Elementary School District and are now successful college students.  My husband and I have been grateful for the outstanding education that our two children have received in the Alhambra School District.

I spent twenty-one wonderful years in the classroom teaching grades K-3.  My years since then have served as an administrator in both elementary and junior high classrooms.  I have a clear understanding of what it takes to effectively lead so that students can achieve at their highest levels in all facets of their education.

Our goals for your child include providing them with a firm academic foundation by developing English language proficiency. Our desire is to support social skill development as well as developing multicultural understanding. Finally, our hope is to develop a transition program that fosters a positive shift from Valencia to your child’s neighborhood school.

With students, staff, and parents working together, we will:

    • Ensure a strong English language academic focus for all students to excel.
    • Developing students who are respectful, self-disciplined, conscientious, and self-motivated.
    • Provide a safe, secure, and caring environment for all students, staff, and visitors.
    • Formulate a partnership between home and school using effective wrap around services.

I very much look forward to this new year.  In order for Valencia to set the pace as your school of choice, we need your involvement and support every step of the way.

    Serving Your Children,

    Lynette Wegner
