• K-5 Wonders Reading & Language Arts Curriculum

    A set of language arts textbooks.

    McGraw-Hill Reading Wonders program is a Reading and Language Arts program. Students are introduced to Weekly Concepts using grade-appropriate science and social studies topics. Close Reading is taught using short complex texts with mini-lessons on comprehension, strategies and skills, genre, vocabulary strategies and writing traits. Students apply close reading skills to several texts throughout the 5-day "week." Reading, writing, spelling, and grammar activities are practiced using worksheets and the Your Turn practice book. Lessons are enhanced with online components including assessments.

  • K-8 Ready Mathematics Curriculum

    The Ready Mathematics program helps address the emphasis on conceptual understanding through reasoning, modeling, and discussion that explore the structure of mathematics while also developing students' procedural fluency. The lessons in Ready Mathematics use a research-based, proven-effective, gradual-release instructional model with a balance of conceptual understanding and procedural fluency to build confidence and mastery of the Common Core Math Standards. Click here to go to the Ready Math website and view some sample lessons. Click here to view an overview brochure about the Ready Math program.

  • 6-8 Sepup Science Curriculum

    SEPUP (The Science Education for Public Understanding Program) creates an innovative science curriculum for use in 6-12 education. Issue-oriented science forms the core of SEPUP's curriculum materials. Every unit uses personal and societal issues to provide thematic continuity for student investigations and observations. SEPUP is part of UC Berkeley's Lawrence Hall of Science.

  • 6-8 StudySync Reading & Language Arts Curriculum

    StudySync is a complete source for ELA and literature instruction for grades 6–12, offering powerful digital instruction with full print support. StudySync engages students while advancing reading, writing, critical thinking, speaking and listening skills.

    AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness program designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college. The program places special emphasis on growing writing, critical thinking, teamwork, organization and reading skills. At Cordova Elementary School all of our students will begin to use AVID's organizational strategies and teachers will work on incorporating teamwork activities throughout the day.

    Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 have an opportunity to apply for the AVID Elective class. Each week, students receive instruction utilizing a rigorous college preparatory curriculum provided by AVID Center, tutor-facilitated study groups, motivational activities and academic success skills. In AVID, students participate in activities that incorporate strategies focused on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading to support their academic growth.
