  • Language Arts

    Valencia teachers use a centers-style configuration in their classrooms. For literacy instruction, American Reading Company and Wonders EL is utilized. The McGraw-Hill Wonders program connects students to intentional instruction, inspiring content, and innovative technology. Students will access complex texts, literature anthologies, close reading, daily writing, dynamic tech enhanced assessment and participate in carefully designed sequence of instruction to teach critical literacy skills that young learners need most.     Math

    Math teachers at Valencia use Ready and iReady Math. The Ready Mathematics program helps build students conceptual understanding through reasoning, modeling, and discussion that explore the structure of mathematics while also developing students' procedural fluency. The lessons in Ready Mathematics use a research-based, proven-effective, gradual-release instructional model with a balance of conceptual understanding and procedural fluency to build confidence and mastery of the AZ mathematics standards.     Social and Emotional Learning

    Teachers use Second Step curriculum to teach Social and Emotional Learning lessons. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Students will have daily instruction in Social and Emotional Skills.
