The Alhambra Elementary School District proudly celebrates the inaugural recipients of the Alhambra Excellence Awards, recognizing team members who exemplify our district’s core values.
These honorees remind us that excellence isn’t a single moment; it’s a mindset that shows up every day in how we serve our students, schools, and community.
The first group of award recipients will be formally recognized by Governing Board members at the October 30, 2025, Board Meeting.
Victor Maya — Behavior Interventionist, James W. Rice
Core Values: Striving for Excellence, Strong Work Ethic
Calm, cool, and committed, Victor Maya embodies what it means to lead with purpose. His empathy and active listening guide students and staff to reflect, grow, and build stronger relationships. Whether coaching, calling families, or modeling accountability, Victor consistently goes above and beyond to create a positive and inclusive campus culture.
Jennifer Martinez — Sensory Communication Teacher, James W. Rice

Jennifer Martinez leads with compassion and high expectations. Her structured, welcoming classroom ensures every student feels valued and capable of success. She empowers her team to deliver instruction that meets every learner’s needs and advocates for full participation in campus life, modeling excellence in all she does.
Lizbeth Ruiz Sandoval — 7th Grade Math Teacher, Barcelona Elementary

Ioan Viseoan — Custodian, Westwood Elementary
