The Arizona International Baccalaureate organization has selected Global Academy of Phoenix teacher Shayleigh Fisher as its Primary Years Programme Teacher of the Year.
The award celebrates excellence in teaching within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), which emphasizes developing students who are curious, caring, and globally minded. The program encourages children to think critically, act with purpose, and see themselves as responsible members of both their local and international communities.
Fisher, who joined Global Academy of Phoenix in 2020, has become known for creating a classroom culture built on inquiry, reflection, and collaboration. Colleagues say her lessons inspire students to take ownership of their learning and connect it to real-world issues.
The recognition highlights Fisher’s dedication to teaching and her impact on the Global Academy of Phoenix community.
“We are proud to have Mrs. Fisher on our team,” Dr. Alfonso Landey, GAP Principal, said. “Her recognition as IB PYP Teacher of the Year reflects the love, commitment, and excellence she brings to our students.”
