COVID-19 Update

April 8, 2022

Dear Alhambra Community,

The past two years have been evidence of the strong partnership between you and our district. Together we have been able to face the challenges brought on by the pandemic and our partnership has ensured our mutual safety and well-being. Thank you for your cooperation, trust, and continued commitment to our students and each other during these uncertain times.

As you may know, recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local health departments shows a significant improvement in COVID-19 in our area. Following public health guidance and a review of our district-specific data, beginning Monday, April 11, 2022, the Alhambra Elementary School District (AESD) will recommend, and no longer require, the use of face coverings for students, staff, and visitors at district properties/buses unless directed otherwise by AESD health staff as a mitigation measure.

This decision aligns with current federal, state, and local guidance and follows our commitment to using science to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Rest assured, face coverings will still be available for your use. Please keep in mind that some of our students and staff live with underlying health concerns, therefore, we ask you to respect and support one’s personal decision to wear or not wear a mask at AESD.

While this decision brings our district one step closer to normal, we recognize COVID-19 remains present. That is why our district will continue to monitor the virus’s impact on our communities and will adjust mitigation strategies as needed. Keep in mind that as we move to a more typical manner of operation, in-person events and activities will occur more frequently. That being said, your cooperation and support will be crucial to ensuring all members of our community remain safe and comfortable as we move forward.

As always, the safety and well-being of everyone within our community is of utmost importance and will continue to be. If you, or someone you know, have unique needs or concerns that need to be specifically addressed, please reach out to your school’s principal or district administrator for further assistance.

Again, thank you for your support and partnership as we continue to navigate the pandemic together.
