Suzanne Schmit

  • Suzanne Schmit has spent most of her life in our beautiful Phoenix area. She attended Ottawa University for her Bachelor's Degree and Northern Arizona University to earn her Master's Degree. Mrs. Schmit has been with the Alhambra School District for 20 years. She served as a library media specialist at Granada East School and taught seventh and eighth grade language arts at Barcelona Middle School. This is her fifth year as a gifted resource teacher in our GATE Program.

    Mrs. Schmit and her husband have a beautiful 8-year-old daughter. They also have three wonderful rescue pups that fill their home with love and silliness. Mrs. Schmit enjoys reading, sewing, decorating, and traveling. Mrs. Schmit is excited for this very special year in GATE!

Melody Hodges

  • Melody Hodges was born and raised in a small town in Wyoming. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to attend the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Library Media. While working as a library media specialist she discovered a passion for working with gifted students, so she began taking classes to earn her Gifted Education Endorsement. Mrs. Hodges has been an educator for 19 years. This is her 12th year as a proud GATE Resource Teacher for the Alhambra Elementary School District.

    Mrs. Hodges loves to hike, travel, volunteer for a good cause, and spend time with family. Mrs. Hodges is thrilled to get to work with gifted/high achieving students and their families to help develop talents and cultivate a happy, successful life.
