Alhambra Foundation for the FutureSeveral years ago, Alhambra District employees started the Alhambra Foundation for the Future, a nonprofit organization that solicits funds solely for college scholarships. Employees donate money directly out of their own pockets to this one-of-a-kind scholarship program. This year alone, the Foundation raised more than $400,000; last year, Alhambra's students even participated by holding their own penny campaign that brought in more than $90,000. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded 1,005 scholarships and received approximately $1.8 million in donations! Graduates from any Alhambra elementary school are eligible to apply for scholarships if they graduate from high school and are accepted at an Arizona junior college or university. Scholarships are also available for post-secondary education such as trade, craft, and technological schools, and/or health-related programs.
